Machining & Fabrication Manager

Vitex Extrusion is currently seeking a full-time Machining & Fabrication Manager to lead and grow its machining and fabrication business unit, a focal point of the company’s value-added operations. This position will coordinate work within the company’s extrusion operations, with other Momentum Manufacturing Group companies and select outside contractors to ensure quality components are processed safely and efficiently to customer specifications. Position reports directly to the company President.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Management Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the direct supervision and management of the business unit.
  • Organize and manage the production team according to demand and capacity restraints, to ensure the master schedule supports customer requirements.
  • Lead by example with your own behavior and actions.
  • Identify and manage the resolution of bottlenecks, machine maintenance requirements, workforce issues, and plant capacity.
  • Track key business unit production operating metrics.

Contact/Interactions:

  • Interact frequently with all levels of the organization.
  • Meet daily with business unit reports to obtain feedback/updates on individual job statuses.
  • Work with the production and engineering staff to continually improve quality, safety, cost and productivity.
  • Frequent contact with outside vendors and customers.

Decision Making:

  • Has a high level of decision-making responsibility as failure to make an accurate decision may result in the shipment of non-conforming material, late orders, and not meeting the customers’ expectations.
  • Provide input and direction on the analysis of customer prints and other documentation to prepare estimates and manufacturing process flows.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Strong experience with machining and fabrication processes and equipment, tooling requirements, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the commonly used CAD software products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interact effectively with different personalities.
  • Ability to train and coach others to improve performance.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge in production scheduling and planning.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of 5S and lean manufacturing.
